Many of my works, which have the theme of “invisibility,” have a structure that contains invisible parts, such as blending into the background, hiding, or missing. In the works of this series objects such as stone sculptures of lions, clocks, and everyday items are separated by the surface of a box (or floor), and exist with invisible parts. In other words, the sculpture itself embodies the structure of this world, which is made up of visible and invisible realms. This was my first time in this village and there was only a little I could see here. Nevertheless, I wanted to create a sculpture that would rely on what is visible and act as a catalyst to connect the invisible aspects of this place, such as everyday memories, shared culture, and the flow of time. For this aim, the objects used in the work are mainly ones that represent the traditional industries, culture, and customs of the region, as well as everyday items used by the residents.
